Jin Kim

Mr. Jin Kim Our new student volunteer in Bandipur is Jin Kim, a Korean national who met Peter Dalglish at student leadership conference at Pearson College in British Columbia, Canada in the summer of 1998. Jin graduated from McGill University in Montreal with a degree in International Development studies and Geography. Throughout university years, Jin was involved in developmental research programs. He participated in a field research in Barbados, studying the effects of tourism on development. After graduating from University, Jin served in the Republic of Korea Air Force for three years as a Unit Training/Liaison Officer.

In Bandipur Jin’s responsibilities include teaching classes (including English, social studies and science) at Bhanu School, tutoring younger children at the Learning Centers, and helping residents of the Notre Dame Campus Hostel with English lessons. Free time is often dedicated to playing sports with children in town. Being raised in Korea, and educated in North America, Jin’s skills and understanding of different cultures make him a particularly effective volunteer. He’s very popular among all the town’s residents, and already describes his experience in Nepal as ‘life changing’.
